In collaboration with Kate from Top Kat Photography, on the Hibiscus Coast, I shot some maternity photos, with a new Mum and Dad to be. Ursula from Ursula Edwards Makeup Artist, did her magic, and we were ready to go. (I wish I had to skill of applying makeup so beautifully!)
Both indoors and out, we managed to get some gorgeous shots of Viv and Jack, and their baby bump, who is now here, and named Sophie, and she's a gorgeous wee bundle of love too!
Great time to get images of just Dad to be too.
So full of expectation and looking forward to meeting their darling wee daughter.
If you want to find out more about a Maternity shoot give me a call or drop me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. I also offer Birth Photography and a Lifestyle session after your baby is born. Or you can have all three in one package. I am very limited to the amount of births I photograph, so if its something you are thinking about, contact me as soon as possible to have a chat to see if its for you.
What a pleasure to photograph Mr and Mrs C's wedding. The bridal party were such a fun bunch, with a mixture of guys and gals in both the bride and grooms side... It was a wedding full of laughter, fun and love.
The summer here in Auckland has been amazing this year... Not good for the farmers, but great for getting out and getting some great images with some really good light!
Oh boy!!! My poor blog... I bet all you have heard here is the sound of the crickets! Everytime I have done a new session or project I have great intentions of blogging straight away...! That obviously has not been happening... so I will leave you with a few images instead! Starting with a really fun styled session...
Vikki was a wee bit nervous about her session this weekend. I certainly understand how she feels, because even when its just portfolio shots, most people are a bit apprehensive, about standing in front of a camera. I often hear women, and men for that matter say, "but I won't know what to do or how to stand"!! And I totally get that. That's what I'm there for. Its my job to direct you. My job to make you feel relaxed, and for you to enjoy the experience. It shouldn't feel like going to the dentist!

I got Liz to take some maternity shots of me, and loved them. She mentioned that she would love to photograph a birth, and I started toying with the idea. My partner is from Wales, and I thought it would be lovely for his family to be able to see some good shots of some of the important moments that they would be missing.
My family was a little unsure about me inviting someone who I had only met once, but I had found Liz to be so respectful of me during the maternity shots that I trusted it would be fine.
And it was.
She was completely unobtrusive, and we all forgot she was even there for much of it. When we were aware of her she was a lovely presence to be included in this special time.
When we got the disc we were all completely blown away, in fact we all balled our eyes out when we watched it.
She had told the story of the labour and birth so beautifully, especially considering that we ended up having an emergency caesarean, which only allowed the father to come into theatre.
Our midwife was also amazed when we showed her the photos. She couldn't believe Liz had got so many incredible shots, as she had been so unobtrusive.
She had put them together so beautifully and thoughtfully it was astounding. I cannot imagine how it could possibly have been done better.
We would highly recommend Liz to anyone who is considering having the birth of their baby photographed. It is something we will treasure forever, and we cannot thank her enough. ~ J ~
I know! I know! I'm a shocker at keeping my blog up to date! Along with Jasmin doing makeup and hair, I can now offer styled sessions. "Make me Feel Fab", makeover sessions is for all ages, so if you have a special birthday coming up whether it be 21st or 61st, or you just feel like being pampered, why not think about getting glammied up and getting some gorgeous shots done. These sessions can be up to 3 or 4 hours, starting with makeup and hair, and with a few changes of clothes, we can create several different looks.
Recently I did a Maternity shoot with the lovely J. We were chatting away during the session, and talking about photography, and I mentioned that I would love to do birth photography.
Well at least I would like to try and see if it was something I wanted to pursue. A week later I received an email from J, saying she remembered what I had said, and if I was keen, then her and her husband would like me to photograph the birth of their first baby. Her husbands family live in the UK, and it was a great way of them being part of such a wonderful time of their lives. Wow! I was honoured to have been even considered never mind asked to be involved in the most special time of a couple's life. We had a couple of conversations about it, so that we were all on the same page, and then at 1am on the 15th of August the phone rang.... and almost like an expectant parent myself, with my bag ready and prepared (gear bag that is!), jumped in the car and headed for the hospital....
As to the question of whether birth photography is something I would like to pursue? Then the answer would be yes!
We had a good time exploring Musick Point, which had a lot of significance to this family's history. I love it when an area is special in a shoot....
Right on the heels of my last blog post, I was so happy to do this family shoot for the wonderful D family. They wanted family photos but also grandparents to be involved and what a privilege it was to head off to the beach and photograph them on the only good day we have had for ages. It was such a beautiful day, and we had such a good time, but what really shone through, for me, at this shoot, was a family's love, and at the end of the day that's what it's all about. ~ Liz ~
When was the last time you had a picture of yourself with your children? Or your parents for that matter? I suddenly came to the realisation that the last time I had a photo with my eldest daughter was about 4 years ago. I haven't even tried to remember how long it was with my other three children. I wanted to enter a mother and daughter competition, and was looking through all my photos, not quite believing I could not find one of us that didn't go back that far. I couldn't even really find one of myself that didn't have me with a camera in front of my face.
I sort of avoid camera's myself. Probably because I must be vain and Im getting older and not liking some of what I see. But the thing is, if I suddenly fell off the earth, my husband and kids, and the rest of my family wouldn't even have a photo of me, or with me. As I have said in my "about me" section of my website, we don't have many photos from my childhood, and I have one photo of my grandmother holding my Mum when she was a toddler. I look at that photo a lot. It makes me sad to think I don't know what my grandparents looked like, and now that my mum has gone too, I wish I had taken more opportunity's to have some pictures with her. I have a few snaps, and I cherish these. I really do.
I'm going to round my children up. Not really an easy task when half of them are grown up, and hard to tie down, but I'm going to do it. What am I waiting for... to lose a little weight? Get younger? Well that's not going to happen! Lets face it we are only ever as young as we are today ... Mothers day is coming up in a few months. Its going to be my Mothers Day present to myself, and although I don't really need reminding, also to reaffirm how important those in my life are to me. -Liz-
I believe in working with you to create images you will love, and cherish, because "It's all about you!"
